Elections 2026 - Gwangju-Jeonnam Chapter

Election Procedures

Gwangju-Jeonnam Chapter holds annual elections in December each year at the December chapter meeting, regularly held on the second Saturday of the month. The elected offices are

• President
• Vice-President
• Treasurer

(Additional officers may be appointed by the president/chapter council post-election.)

Nominations

The 2025 nomination period for elected officers is 
----- November 8 to December 6 -----

• Nominations/self-nominations may be made by members in good standing and shall be submitted to the elections officer.
• Nominees must be chapter members in good standing and must have been a chapter member for at least three months prior to nomination (six months for president).
• Each nominee must arrange to receive two endorsements by members in good standing, and the endorsers shall submit their endorsements to the elections officer within the nomination period.
• Approved candidates will be posted on this page.

Elections

• The 2025 chapter elections shall be held on December 13 at the regular monthly chapter meeting, and shall be conducted by the elections officer.
• Nominees approved by the elections officer may submit a candidate’s statement and/or a resume to the elections officer on or prior to election day for distribution to chapter members.
• Voting for each office shall be by paper ballot, show of hands, or voice vote as determined by the elections officer.

Duties of the Elected Officers

President: Plan meetings and special events; invite and coordinate speakers; facilitate meetings and workshops; ensure venues are reserved (GNUE, KOTESOL Zoom Room, etc.); chair annual regional conference, if any; work with chapter officers on outreach and innovative meeting formats; order branded items; and represent the chapter at National Council meetings and at events around the community (e.g., GIC Day).

Vice President: Ascend to the presidency if the position becomes vacant; facilitate workshops and represent the chapter at National Council meetings if the president is unable to attend; assist the president as needed. In past years, such projects have included serving as webmaster, serving as co-chair of the regional conference, and assisting in chapter meeting planning.

Treasurer: Handle all aspects of chapter finances, including keeping all chapter monies in a separate account earmarked for this purpose; tracking all income and expenses (e.g., for the regional conference); preparing speaker honoraria and paying other expenses (e.g., speaker dinners, prizes) as needed; reimbursing expenses for workshops and the regional conference; preparing the annual budget and spending report; preparing necessary documents to request reimbursement from National as needed (e.g., quarterly chapter dues shares, program book ads, etc.).
