Gwangju-Jeonnam

Who We Are

.

The Gwangju-Jeonnam Chapter of Korea TESOL serves EFL teachers in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas with monthly ELT presentations and workshops on the second Saturday of every month for the professional development of its membership as well as to promote scholarship and disseminate information on ELT. We are

"Teachers Helping Teachers."

.
The Chapter holds an annual conference, often in cooperation with one or more of KOTESOL's special interest groups (SIGs) and featuring presentations from outstanding KOTESOL members from across the nation. In October 2024, Gwangju will host KOTESOL's National Conference at Gwangju National University of Education.

ACTIVITIES

Additional activities include an end-of-summer (outdoor) dinner and an end-of-year dinner, both great times for networking and socializing. The Chapter also usually participates in the Gwangju International Center's Together Day each autumn with a display, introducing the community to KOTESOL and the activities of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Chapter. The GIC produces a monthly magazine, Gwangju News, in which the Chapter maintains a column on English language teaching.

In 2024, Gwangju chapter is hosting more informal gatherings that focus on socializing while chatting about teaching topics. Monthly we check out a new coffee shop in Coffee Connections, and a new bar or pub in Cocktail Connects. Check our Facebook group and events for the next gathering.
