The Frozen Clock: Why Your Korea Paycheck Isn't Keeping Up - and What to Do About It
Abstract
Foreign educators in Korea are caught in a slow-motion financial squeeze: salaries frozen, costs climbing, career ceilings low, and demographic headwinds on the horizon. This session strips away the polite fiction that a teaching salary in Korea is "enough" and replaces it with a no-nonsense, data-driven action plan. Drawing on two decades of on-the-ground experience in both Daegu and Seoul, Daniel walks through a five-part financial playbook - covering smart saving, low-risk investing, cost optimization, income diversification, and pension strategy - designed specifically for foreign faculty navigating life and work in Korea. Equal parts reality check and field guide.
