Abstract

As Artificial Intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in educational environments, the focus must shift from viewing AI solely as a productivity tool to comprehending its role in shaping how learners think, reflect, and develop. This talk introduces the concept of “learning-to-learn with AI,” framing intelligent systems not as substitutes for human intelligence, but as cognitive partners that can support metacognition, creativity, and critical inquiry.

The session explores how human-centered and trustworthy AI can be designed and utilized to scaffold learners’ thinking, foster self-regulation, and encourage deeper engagement with knowledge rather than passive reliance on automated responses. Through practical educational scenarios, the talk illustrates how AI can support lesson planning, formative assessment, and reflective learning practices, while maintaining teachers’ central role as facilitators, mentors, and ethical decision-makers.

Ultimately, the talk argues that meaningful AI integration in education depends not on what AI can do for learners, but on how it can help learners learn how to learn, grounded in human values and long-term educational goals.
