The Suwon-Gyeonggi KOTESOL chapter’s May workshop features one speaker, Charles Hill presenting “MI Theory”. Following Mr. Hill’s presentation will be a 4 corners discussion.
As always, attendance is free and refreshments will be provided.

Abstracts:
Topic 1: “The Theory of Multiple Intelligences”
You can't teach a tiger to fly, so why try? To effectively instruct, one must identify each student's aptitudes and interests and structure meaningful, engaging lessons that allow for the learner to express him or herself. In this workshop, we'll cover the basics of MI theory and some practical strategies and activities that we can do in the classroom each day to help keep the minds of our young learners open and engaged.
Topic 2: 4 Corners - Divide, Unite, and Develop
A collaborative discussion will take place covering four areas of interest:
- Elementary School English Education
- Middle School English Education
- High School English Education
- University English Education
This workshop is grounded on the fact that each teacher represents an invaluable accumulation of practical experience, including both successes and failures, as well as a treasure trove of acquired academic knowledge. As such, the room will be divided into four discussion zones based upon the four topics. Workshop attendees may freely move around, discussing the methods, tools, and tips they have employed in their classrooms.
Speaker Bio:
Charles Hill began his teaching career in 2004 whilst back in his native Canada as a volunteer educational assistant at a Catholic school. After a year at Monsignor Clancy, Charles began teaching at Ridley College, a private preparatory, before moving to Korea in 2005. Charles has taught a wide variety of young and adult learners. He has taught everyone from young learners at elementary and middle school to university students in Incheon. This year, he is teaching poetry, photography, and journalism to students in Gangnam, Seoul.
