In this workshop, Kirsty will talk through some of the strategies and social media tools she has employed that have had a positive effect in building a sense of community in her classrooms this semester. Working from the core idea that when students build relationships with each other in meaningful ways both inside and outside the classroom, Kirsty will show how this interaction has a follow on effect on students’ levels of motivation and participation within the classroom.
Kirsty Clausen has been living and teaching English in Korea for approximately 6 years. She has worked with all levels of students from kindergarten through to adults. She is currently employed at Kyungpook National University in Daegu and is enjoying teaching the "Freshman English Program" to all the first year students. Before beginning work in the field of EFL teaching, she studied a Bachelor of Arts in "Human Behaviour and Development" and "Counselling".

Kirsty’s students are primarily freshman - senior students. However, she believes some of the principles in this presentation can apply to other age groups with some modifications. So, no matter what your teaching context, we look forward to seeing you at the workshop!
