Teach Writing Thinkingly

Abstract
Many of us have heard about inquiry-based learning, and its potential contribution to student success inside the classroom, and beyond. But how do we transform this vague concept into specific lessons that improve the quality and clarity of EFL student writing? By the end of this presentation, you will have one answer to that question. You'll learn a four-step critical thinking framework that helps students write well-reasoned, and on occasion brilliant, analyses of problems and solutions. To help students develop professional writing skills that meet the needs of the 21st century economy, we'll look at an email writing activity that brings multiple language and thinking elements into a practical, skills-building exercise.
