(Concurrent Session)

Justin McKibben, Cheongju University

Connecting Education to Learners by Having ThemTeach

Abstract
Getting students to be more interested in class can be difficult. Sadly, when the room goes quiet, we as teachers often speak more to fill the void. One method to counter this and increase student involvement and student speaking time is to have students lead some of the instruction.
This presentation will help teachers think about how to introduce and manage this method in the classroom. Attendees will share thoughts and ideas in small group and full group discussions. There will also be a number of tips and bits of advice from a teacher that has had both good and bad experiences with this method.
