Pearson, OUP, and many ESL publishers regularly provide free professional development opportunities for teachers in the form of webinars. Usually teachers are asked to register or to provide contact information, but on the whole they are free of charge.
See the listing below of archived webinars and other resources from some major ELT publishers, plus TESOL and the U.S. Department of State. There are two disadvantages to watching a recording, rather than a live webinar. 1) You miss out on the opportunities for interaction with the presenter and other participants; 2) You aren't eligible to receive a certificate of participation, if that is important to you.
Archived TESOL Virtual Seminars
Currently active members of the TESOL International Association can view an archive of past Virtual Seminars in the TESOL Resource Center. Once you are logged in to the TESOL website with your membership credentials, go to Connect to TESOL>TESOL Resource Center. Under Find a Resource, Resource Types, use the dropdown box to choose Virtual Seminar. That will return a list of all of the archived Virtual Seminars since 2010. These include webinars from Jeremy Harmer, Penny Ur, Deborah Healey, Catherine Collier, Margarita Calderón, Bill Grabe, Dana Ferris, John Field, and Jayme Adelson-Goldstein, among many, many others.
