Jeonju–North Jeolla Chapter Kicks Off Fall with a Fun(d)raiser

Jeonju–North Jeolla Chapter started the fall semester with energy and creativity at our September opener at Jeonbuk University. We introduced a new location in the College of Education building, complete with fresh name tags featuring QR codes for quick access to chapter information.

To keep our chapter strong, we launched our first-ever silent auction, “Put the Fun in Fundraiser,” featuring donated books, games, and teaching materials. Thanks to the generosity of members and bidders, we raised enough to cover expenses for the next six months — and had a lot of fun along the way.

Our featured speaker, Corrine T. Spencer, delivered an eye-opening talk on Emergency English for Non-Native Speakers, highlighting the importance of teaching safety and wellness vocabulary. Members also shared quick classroom activities during our idea swap shop, sparking inspiration for the semester ahead.

Instead of a second speaker, we hosted an Idea Swap Shop. Several JNJ members stepped up to share practical strategies, from quick warm-up activities to creative fillers that keep students engaged. Their contributions gave everyone fresh ideas to take back to the classroom.

While JNJ will pause regular workshops in October to attend the KOTESOL National Conference in Incheon, we’re looking forward to upcoming chapter events on November 1 and December 6, as well as planning for a regional conference in March 2026.

A huge thank-you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success — from organizers to donors to active participants!
