Graduate Student Showcase

Current graduate school students are encouraged to present their thesis/dissertation or current research at the 30th Korea TESOL International Conference!

Join the Graduate Student Showcase

If you are currently enrolled in a master's or doctorate program, you have the option of submitting your research presentation proposal EITHER as a regular submission or as part of the Graduate Student Showcase (GSS). The GSS is designed to highlight and support less-experienced researchers; if you choose this route, you'll receive additional mentorship prior to the conference to help you hone your abstract as well as your presentation.

In-person or Online Presentations

This year, the 30th Korea TESOL International Conference is able to host both online and in-person presentations, so if you are unable to travel to Seoul, Korea, you still have an opportunity to present.

If you choose to present in-person at the conference, you'll join other GSS presenters onsite in a dedicated GSS session, though your individual presentation should be 15 minutes long.

For those of you who wish to join the conference online, you will be able to present asynchronously by submitting a high-quality recording of your presentation.. Asynchronous presentations  will be available to view during the conference weekend through the event site

Submission Guidelines

GSS proposals will be vetted separately from the regular proposals; however, the guidelines for the title, abstract, etc., are the same as they are for regular proposals, so please check the submission guidelines carefully! As with many of the regular submissions, in-person and online (synchronous/asynchronous) presentations are possible.

Membership Requirements

All accepted GSS presenters, including co-presenters, must be members of KOTESOL or one of our partner organizations (must provide verification from partner organization). Please note that to publish with KOTESOL (e.g., in the Proceedings or the Korea TESOL Journal), you must be a KOTESOL member. Note, too, that student memberships are NOT available for graduate students (only for undergraduate students working on bachelor's or associate's degrees). The membership fee is 50,000 KRW / 50 USD for grad students based in Korea (this is a one-year domestic membership) and 70,000 KRW / 70 USD for grad students based outside of Korea (this is a one-year international membership).

GSS proposals will be accepted via our online platform from August 15 2022 -January 1, 2023.
