Westminster Canadian Academy (WCA) is a G1-12 private school located in Gwacheon, just south of Seoul. We are a small community established in a lovely natural setting on a hillside with trees, flowers, gardens, a nature trail, and beautiful views of Gwanak Mountain. We have a diverse student body with fantastic parental and community support. WCA follows a Canadian curriculum and is accredited by the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS), the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), and Accreditation International (Ai).
We are seeking a middle/high school science teacher to join us for the 2023-24 academic year, beginning late August 2023. The teacher is responsible for teaching the following classes:
- General Science 9
- General Science 10
- Biology 11
- Biology OR Chemistry OR Physics 12
- an additional class or mentor position TBD
We offer small class sizes, paid vacations, and a competitive salary based on experience. The ideal candidate holds an F-class visa (or is a Korean national), has teaching experience, and is a certified educator (or is enrolled in a certification program). We encourage candidates with science degrees and ESL/EFL teaching experience to apply!
Other Responsibilities:
- Working hours: Monday to Friday from 8:15AM to 4:00PM
- Staff Meetings: usually two Wednesdays each month, from 3:40 to 4:40PM
- Supervision: one or two lunch recesses during the week
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary ranges from KRW 2.4-3.8 million depending on experience, degrees, and teaching license/credential
- Paid winter, spring, and summer vacation (12 weeks per year)
- No sports coaching or after-school programs, no mandatory winter or summer camps, no weekends
- Organically-based lunches (provided free of charge at the school's cafeteria)
- Tuition waiver for children
- Small class sizes (less than 15)
- Medical insurance, severance, pension
- Initial 10-month contract; if renewing, contracts beyond the first year are for 12 months
We do not offer housing nor a housing stipend, but a key money loan of up to KRW 10 million is available for candidates to secure housing.
