The Year of the Pig is upon us.
A new year is dawning (for the second time in as many months). The traditional beginning of the year in Korea has long been the Lunar New Year. This year is the Year of the Pig, according to the oriental zodiac, and as the traditional New Year’s greeting goes, we hope that you receive many New Year’s blessings (새해 복 많이 받으세요).
While the Year of the Pig comes around every dozen years, it is only once in its 60-year cycle that this year, the Year of the Golden Pig, visits us, making 2019 an especially auspicious year. We hope that the coming year brings to our KOTESOL family much success is all aspects of life.
To achieve the greatest success, let us reflect on our lives – professional, public, and personal – to determine where we have done well, where we can improve, and where we might benefit from the help of others. Remember that we are “teachers helping teachers,” that we can reach out for assistance as well as provide assistance to others.
Let us serve our profession by helping one another, and thereby allowing the Year of the Golden Pig to bestow upon us all the blessings that the new year has to offer.
새해 복 많이 받으세요!
