KOTESOL membership dues rates will change July 1, 2015.
The KOTESOL membership dues rates have not changed since 1998, while other costs in Korea have climbed 30-60%--or more.*
This means the costs of operations, such as producing publications, hosting chapter meetings, and organizing events, have climbed while membership dues support has not kept pace.
New membership dues rates as of July 1, 2015:
1-year membership: 50,000 won (currently 40,000 won)
International membership: 70,000 won (currently 60,000 won)
Student membership: 30,000 won (currently 20,000 won)
Lifetime membership: 500,000 won (currently 400,000 won)
But you can beat the increase!
The current membership rate of 40,000 won will be offered to anyone joining or renewing as part of their International Conference registration during the Early Bird registration period (July 1-July 31, 2015).
The package price for Early Bird registration plus a new or renewing 1-year (domestic) membership will be 80,000 won (40,000 won for membership + 40,000 won for the conference). On August 1, the price for the same package will be 100,000 won (50,000 won for membership + 50,000 won for the conference).
Or just renew prior to July 1.
In either case, the extension year will be added to the end of your current membership term, whatever the expiry date.
* For example, during this same period, the basic taxi fare in Seoul has risen from 1,000 won to 2,400 won.
