On Saturday, November 9, we will have two presenters at Geunyoung Girls’ High School. The workshop starts at 2:45. Phil Owen will be bringing a number of books to give away and don’t forget our Drama Festival on November 16th at Jeonju University. Details at the bottom.
I. Presentations
1. Ten Tech Tools by Lindsay Herron
This presentation will introduce ten free online tools guaranteed to make an educator’s life easier, without any software installation. Educators will discover new tools to streamline class feedback, gather student information, create self-grading tests, conduct surveys, motivate students, record voiceovers, add subtitles to English movies, and more. Attendees will leave the presentation with great new ideas for integrating tech tools into their teaching, helping to make their classes more dynamic and interactive, their students more engaged, and their lives much easier.
NOTE: Attendees will have an opportunity to try out several tools for themselves; bringing a smartphone pre-loaded with a QR-reader app is strongly encouraged.
Lindsay Herron has been a visiting professor at Gwangju National University of Education since 2008. Prior to that, she taught English on a Fulbright grant at Seogwipo High School in Jeju-do. She has a master’s degree in cinema studies from New York University, bachelor’s degrees in English and psychology from Swarthmore College, a CELTA, and the CELTA YL Extension. She is currently working on a master’s in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education from Indiana University-Bloomington.
2. Go Fish by Ingrid Zwaal
Listen and repeat is useful but boring. How can you make it more exciting? Make a card game out of it. Useful for different levels of students, Ingrid will be teaching how to play this simple traditional children’s game. This game requires students to repeat phrases frequently and enthusiastically. She will demonstrate how to use it for different levels and make your own cards. She will be supplying some card sets to take home.
Ingrid Zwaal is currently working at Jeonju National University of Education and is a columnist for Sae Jeonbuk Shinmoon. She plays volleyball with her university club students and lives with 4 birds and her dog, Spike.
II. The KOTESOL National Drama Festival, hosted by JNJ KOTESOL
It will be held at Jeonju University on November 16th starting at 1 pm. This is a fun and entertaining event where students get to perform and watch other students of all levels and ages participate. The festival gives students a new and exciting way to use their English. All students get certificates for participating.

We will accept 6 groups in each division. Each group must have at least one teacher as their coach.
