I can’t remember my KOTESOL account user name and/or password.

Enter your email address (the one you used to open the account) as the user name, then click "Request new password." You will receive an email with your user name and a temporary password, which can be changed after you successfully login (My Account --> Edit).


Did you get my payment?

Probably. We try to send out confirmations within 7 to 10 business days of receiving payment; but due to the high number of people pre-registering, this isn’t always possible. If you haven’t heard from us within 10 days of transferring money, please contact us!


I’m a graduate student. Can I get a student discount?

No. Student discounts are only available for undergraduate students currently studying.


I can only come to the conference for one day. Can I get a discount or a one-day pass?

Sorry, neither discounts nor one-day passes are available.


How can I get my conference pass?

You can pick up your conference pass in the Online Registration area at the conference. It will be filed under your family (last) name. This is true for both individuals and groups (unless the group leader has requested otherwise; see below).

Registration hours:

Saturday: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sunday: 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m


I’m a group leader. Can I pick up all the passes for my group members?

Sure! Group leaders can pick up passes for all group members. Please indicate in the comments field of the registration form that you’d like to do this, or send us an email ASAP. We’ll pull out your group passes and have them waiting for you.

NOTE: If you choose to do this, please remember to tell your group members they must get their passes from you, not at Registration!

NOTE: If you choose to do this, group leaders ONLY may pick up the passes, or they can delegate someone and send us that person’s name. The person responsible for picking up the passes must show photo ID to do so


I am a KOTESOL member. Can I still register as part of a group?

Yes, but if you do so you must pay the group price (55,000 won per person).


I need an official receipt to give to my institution. How can I get one?

Hard copies of receipts will be available at the conference. Please inquire at Registration.


I bought my membership at the conference last year. Can I get a discount as a member this year?

Sorry; to qualify for a discount as a KOTESOL member, your membership must expire on October 31, 2013, or later. If you purchased your membership at the conference last year, your membership expires before this date. Please consider renewing your membership today!


I can’t go to the conference, but I pre-registered. Can I get a refund?

Sorry, refunds are not possible.


I can’t go to the conference, but I pre-registered. Can I give my conference pass to a friend?

Yes, you can do this. Just send us your friend’s full name as soon as possible. He/she can pick up your pass in the Online Registration area at the conference. It will be under your name, but your friend should bring his/her ID to prove he/she is the person you have approved.


I’m a presenter, but I don’t understand the payment options on the registration form. Can you please explain the fees in more detail?

First, all presenters must be members of KOTESOL. Membership costs 40,000 won for Korea-based members and 60,000 won ($60 USD) for international members. (If you’re currently a member, your membership must expire after October 31, 2013.)

The registration fee for presenters is 50,000 won ($50 USD).

If you’re NOT based in Korea and you’re planning to send the funds by international wire transfer, you’ll have to include an extra 10,000 won ($10 USD) to cover international wire transfer receiver fees. You’re also responsible for all sender fees. There is NO wire transfer receiver fee if you’re paying by Korea Japan International Money Order.

Example: If you’re an international presenter who is not currently a KOTESOL member, your fees break down like this: Presenter registration fee (50,000) + International membership (60,000) + wire transfer receiver fee (10,000) = 120,000/$120USD.


I'd like to attend, but I need an invitation letter in order to get a visa. Can you help me with this?

KOTESOL cannot provide letters of invitation to conference attendees.

Please note that KOTESOL membership dues and registration fees are non-refundable; we suggest that you check visa requirements with the Korean consulate in your country before proceeding.


I can't see the fields on the registration form; they're all black! How can I register?

A black "overlay" is a known problem with Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 web browser. IE 8 is a discontinued product, and Microsoft will not fix the issue. The black overlay does not effect IE 9 and up (in our experience).  Very rarely the problem can also be caused by a bad web browser plugin or a screen reading virus that is looking for private information. KOTESOL's Web developer has looked at programming around this error in IE 8 and found that it is not a feasible option.

The black overlay does NOT affect Firefox or Google Chrome.

To register, please try using another browser, such as Firefox or Chrome. If you cannot install another browser, try using another machine with a different web browser or a newer version of Internet Explorer.
