Abstract

In an increasingly globalized world, effective professional communication and intercultural competence are essential skills. In this presentation, we explore the role of English for specific purposes (ESP) in empowering individuals to navigate diverse cultural landscapes within professional contexts. By focusing on targeted language training, ESP courses enhance both linguistic abilities and cultural awareness, crucial for building bridges across different cultural backgrounds. In this talk, we will discuss practical strategies for integrating compassion, connection, and criticality into ESP curricula, emphasizing how these elements can foster a more inclusive and empathetic approach to global communication. The presentation aims to demonstrate how ESP can not only improve language proficiency but also cultivate a deeper understanding and respect for cultural diversity, thereby contributing to more harmonious and effective international interactions.
