Title: A Discussion on Motivating Our Students

Abstract:
Motivation is one of the most important driving forces in the EFL classroom. Without it, very little language learning can occur (Dörnyei, 2005). In this online workshop, participants will look at motivation’s role in their current teaching practice. The session will include small group discussions on how participants motivate their students in their own classroom, followed by a brief overview of important L2 motivational research and its implications for EFL instructors within the Korean context.

The workshop will also include ways that participants can apply current research findings to their practice and conclude with a discussion about lessons learned from the session.

Bio:

He holds a MAT in TESOL from the University of Southern California and a MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from the University of Oxford. His research interests include L2 motivation, formulaic language, and onomastics.
