Tag! You're It! (Share KOTESOL in Your Socials With These Hashtags)

KOTESOL has helped so many of us in different ways. As a new member, I wish I had known more about the benefits of this organization sooner!  The national Publicity Committee would like to get the word out to a wider audience on all social media platforms using the hashtags #igotitfromKOTESOL and #teachershelpingteachers. This new marketing campaign is a way to reach different communities that may not be represented by our current active membership. Everyone has different interests and communities, so these hashtags can be a way to infiltrate those various bubbles by people who are already trusted.

So why don’t we encourage current members, former members, or potential members to make posts about their experiences with KOTESOL and its local chapters?! #igotitfromKOTESOL is a way to give credit for new friendships, new teaching ideas, or even job opportunities. After attending the national conference in November, my professional and social circles have expanded. Josè Domingo Cruz’s verbal communication activity was a huge success with my students, so I made a post using #igotitfromKOTESOL to share the idea. From the conference, I also gained new friendships in my current city that I didn’t have before. Making a post with a selfie of us using #igotitfromKOTESOL can also show the fun side of Korea TESOL membership. Since joining the organization, I am encouraged to share some of my favorite learner-focused teaching tips. I may still be too shy to give a formal presentation at my local chapter, but I am brave enough to share my ideas on my personal social media with my own friends and followers by using the hashtag #teachershelpingteachers.

This campaign restricts NO ONE from posting or where the posts are made. Anyone who has benefitted from Korea TESOL is encouraged to let others know by using the hashtags #igotitfromKOTESOL or #teachershelpingteachers. Let’s get the word out because sharing is caring!
