Put on Your Intelligence CAP for English Learning
In Korea, students who learn English must put on their intelligence CAP (Creative, Analytical, and Practical) for the development of that language. However, it is common that most Korean students learn English primarily through analytic approaches, specifically with grammar for accuracy purposes to get the proper form. However, much of their pre-college English schooling does not focus on developing their fluency for listening and speaking to develop in practical and creative approaches. Through the use of Robert Sternberg's Triarchic Theory of Intelligences, English teachers can develop their teaching repertoire for not only analytical intelligence, but also for creative and practical intelligences to help their pupils be able to develop their oral and aural skills for learning English. I will emphasize how this theory can be useful to help learners achieve their optimum level for their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
