Abstract:
Many students are willing to communicate in English but feel they lack enough vocabulary and expressions to truly convey themselves. Students often feel frustrated when trying to remember new vocabulary only to find that a lot of it just doesn’t “stick”. This workshop will discuss some of the reasons that words are forgotten, the science of vocabulary learning, and some techniques that both teachers and students can use to drastically enhance vocabulary retention. This presentation will also give participants a hands-on opportunity to try out various vocabulary activities that can be used in the classroom.
