Korea TESOL Journal Editor to Speak on Panel at TESOL International

The 2019 TESOL International Convention and English Language Expo opens on March 12 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Longtime KOTESOL member, Kara Mac Donald, is a panelist for an invited session titled "Demystifying the Academic Publishing and Review Processes." This panel discussion is scheduled for the third day of the convention. Kara was invited to join the panel because of her experience with academic journals.  She has been the editor-in-chief of the Korea TESOL Journal (KTJ) since spring 2014 and has been a reviewer for several other journals.

Kara enjoys her role as editor-in-chief of the KTJ because she enjoys reading about what novice and seasoned educators are doing in the field. She also likes the mentoring aspect of her position. The KTJ is a mentoring journal and supports authors with solid research in developing the write-up of their research.

In addition to the panel, Kara is co-presenting in four other sessions.

Those who are interested in publishing their research but are unable to attend the 2019 TESOL Convention should consider submitting to the KTJ. If the research is sufficiently reliable and valid and can inform Korean ELT, the journal review committee will consider the submission for publication based on its meaningfulness to KTJ’s readership. In the next step, the committee usually determines revisions to be made, either independently or with guidance from the journal.
