
Author Submission Guidelines
The English Connection (TEC)
.The English Connection (TEC), KOTESOL’s quarterly ELT magazine, welcomes writers of all experience levels to share their ideas in diverse formats, from research to reflections, lesson plans to photo essays.
ARTICLES
We welcome submissions on a wide range of ELT-related topics, especially those with practical classroom applications and relevance to the Korean context. The English Connection invites contributions on (but not limited to) the following areas: methodology, linguistics, AI and computer-assisted language learning, curriculum and lesson design, intercultural communication (with a Korean or broader Asian perspective), pragmatics, language policy, language testing, SLA, teacher development and reflection, translation, and teaching young learners.
BOOK, WEBSITE, and BLOG REVIEWS
Reviews should be fair, balanced, and written from the perspective of teachers, with emphasis on their application and usefulness in the Korean ELT context.
LENGTH
Articles: 2–4 pages (approximately 1,200–3,500 words)
Reviews: 1–2 pages (approximately 800–1,500 words)
PHOTOS and IMAGES
We encourage the inclusion of photos or graphics that illustrate your article’s content. “Action shots” are particularly welcome. Please include captions for all photos, as well as attribution/credits for all images. Graphs, charts, and other academic figures may be included sparingly and should be clearly labeled.
AUTHOR BIO and HEADSHOT
Please include a brief bio of approximately 50 words (two to three sentences), along with a business-casual to formal head-and-shoulders, passport-style, portrait photo. A plain background is preferred, and cell phone resolution is acceptable.
SUBMISSIONS
We invite contributions from writers of all experience levels – seasoned professionals, emerging voices, and first-time authors alike. The English Connection accepts a variety of genres, including academic studies, practical lesson plans, step-by-step guides, first-person narratives, satire, reflective essays, comparative analyses, and creative or contemplative musings. We also welcome data-driven and visual storytelling formats such as infographics and photo essays. Our editorial team can work closely with contributors to help develop and refine their articles, ensuring that each piece is clear, engaging, and impactful. If you have an idea to share, we encourage you to submit it… your perspective matters.
Submissions should be sent as Word or Google Docs files, attached to an email, and sent to the address below.
