Greetings members and friends!
It is summer and our attention is wandering as are our feet. We would like to have a members meeting in July for those of you still hanging around, all the same. We are planning a short and casual round table to discuss some tips and experiences. We give you a warm welcome to the Round Table on Teaching Tips on July 12th at 2:30.
The presenters who will start off the discussions with 10 to 15- minute talks are:
Akli Hadid
Topic: The pros and cons of using English tournaments in the classroom.
Akli Hadid is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Academy of Korean Studies, majoring in Korean studies and sociology. He has been in Korea 9 years and taught EFL at Kaya University for one year. He can be reached at hadid.akli@gmail.com
Kathleen Kelley
Topic: Using games in the classroom to focus on the target language.
KathleenKelley is from the Philadelphia area where she earned a BS in interior design from Drexel University. Kathleen has been teaching in Busan for the EPIK program since 2011. She is currently working at an elementary school in Dadaepo. In addition, she is now a candidate for the role of Vice-President of our KOTESOL Chapter.
Barbara Waldern
Topic: The pros and cons of the "talk show" format of conversation class presentations.
Barbara Waldern was a French major. She also studied English literature and applied linguistics and began teaching English to immigrants in Canada earlier in her career. Later, she received an MA in anthropology from Simon Fraser University. She has been an Assistant Professor of English at Busan University of Foreign Studies for over five years. She is now President of our Chapter.
When: July 12 at 2:30 (no reflective practice session before that)

Reminder!
Nominations for the position of Vice-President will be closed at 2:00 p.m. on July 12th. If you are interested or know someone who is, send a bio with your reasons for running. The by-election will be held at our meeting on July 12. (The annual general election is in November.)
Schedule Notes:
We are suspending the Reflective Practice session that we have been holding prior to the start of the seminars at our regular meetings. The Reflective Practice session that used to start at noon or 1:00 is canceled until further notice.
There will be no meeting in August. Enjoy your vacations!
Fall meetings will be held on the THIRD (3rd) Saturdays of the month. The first fall general members' meeting is going to be on Saturday, September 20th at 2:30 (Doors open at 2:00). The speakers and topics will be announced later.
