The 2019 International Conference Is Finally Here

The 27th annual Korea TESOL International Conference will be here from October 12-13, 2019. This year’s theme is Advancing ELT: Blending Disciplines, Approaches and Technologies. Andrew D. Cohen and Rod Ellis are the plenary speakers for the event. There are two featured panels: Women in leadership in ELT and Women in Leadership in Korea.

The featured speakers for this event are Peter Roger, Curtis Kelly, Bodo Winter, Stephen Ryan, Thomas S.C. Farrell, Boyoung Lee, Kara Mac Donald, Birsen Tutunis, and Heyoung Kim. The event will be held at Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul.  It will feature some presentations on topics such as Building an AI Chatbot and L2 Tasks for Young Learners, A Person-Centered Approach: What It Means and Why It Matters, Teacher Education and Training Policy for the Development of Teacher Identity, and much much more!

There will be workshops held by the plenary speakers before lunch on both Saturday and Sunday that are sure to be informative and engaging. The workshop topic of Rod Ellis is Assessing L2 Learners’ Pragmatic Competence. Participants in this workshop will have the chance to try out some of the materials for themselves as well as comment on them.

On Sunday, Andrew D. Cohen will be doing a workshop titled, Exploring Ways in Which Being a Native or a Nonnative Teacher May Influence the Teaching of Target-Language Pragmatics. During this workshop, participants will discuss their responses to a questionnaire in the hands-on portion of the workshop.

So, please join us on Saturday, October 12 from 08:00-19:15 and on Sunday, October 13 from 08:00 to 17:00. It’s sure to be another great opportunity to join this multicultural community full of support, and years’ worth of knowledge and experience!
