President's Message:

Welcome everyone to the 15th Annual Conference hosted by KOTESOL's Seoul Chapter! We are so excited to be holding our 15th Annual Conference and we are celebrating by focusing on our roots as a local chapter with the conference theme of "Think Global, Act Local". We are honored to be able to present you with a truly interactive and exciting day of professional development at our home base, Sookmyung Women's University's Injaegwan building. We hope that this conference will help to inspire and motivate you.

Thank you!

Rooms:

We have decided this conference to focus on making sure that all participants are able to access workshops and presentations that are relevant to their personal context, that are interactive, engaging, and promote real professional growth. With this aim in mind we have decided to theme the rooms, to help make the conference as accessible and easy to navigate as possible:

Room #301: Activities, Games & The Arts

All the workshops for this room will focus on different activities, games, and artistic projects which you can utilize in your classroom. The sessions focus on having a very practical takeaway for the attendees.

Room #302: Critical Educators & Social Justice

The workshops in this room will focus on Social Justice issues as well as looking as more Critical approaches to education. The sessions aim to inform as well as inspire discussion and debate about the issues presented.

Room #305: Skills in Focus

All the workshops for this room will focus on how to teach different skills; such as writing and reading. The sessions focus on developing the attendees' abilities to successfully present different skills to their students.

Room #306: Educator Development

The first two sessions in this room will each consist of two shorter presentations by first-time or experienced presenters. These shorter sessions are aimed at given an opportunity for presenters to introduce research, discuss a contentious issue, or try presenting for the first time.

For the remainder of the sessions, the workshops in this room focus on developing personal skills as an educator. The sessions aim to give information and assist with attendees' development of their personal professional skills.

Room #307: Organizational Partners / Elections Room

This is a space where attendees can meet and interact with some of KOTESOL's wonderful Organizational Partners, as well as being the venue for the voting for our chapter elections. Please don't forget to vote if you are a Seoul Chapter member!

For more information about the elections, please click here.

Room #308: Cafe and Networking Space

Our relaxation and networking room!

Schedule:

For this year's conference, the Executive Committee for the Seoul Chapter has decided to try something different. There are no plenaries this year, no welcome ceremonies, and no closing ceremony. The focus for this year's conference is completely on the presenters and the attendees.

To ensure that everyone is able to get the most out of the conference, we have built in substantial (15 minutes) breaks between the sessions. During these breaks, as well as grabbing a coffee and getting yourself organized for the next session, we would like to encourage all attendees to engage with each other as much as possible during this time. Perhaps you could use it find someone who attended a different session previously to the one you attended and to share what each of you gained from the session. Alternatively, you could use the time to continue the discussion from the session in a more informal way. Or you could use the time to meet new people and build up your professional network. We hope to make sure this event is inclusive, supportive, and social, as well as informative!
