KOTESOL National Conference 2018

May 12, 2018 — Kangnam University, Yongin, South Korea

Theme: Crossing Borders: Korean ELT in the Modern World

Deadline for Proposals: March 16, 2018

Korea TESOL invites interested professionals to submit a proposal to present at the 2018 National Conference to be held at Kangnam University, Saturday May 12th 2018.

The theme of this year’s conference is Crossing Borders: Korean ELT in the Modern World. This is an opportunity for language teaching professionals from across Korea (and beyond) to consider the challenges we face in our various classroom contexts, and explore how we can rise to meet them.  As teachers, we cross professional and personal borders every day. Some of these borders, we have been crossing as a profession since the beginning - others are new, unfamiliar and challenging. The Program Committee will consider any and all proposals that critically engage with this theme in such a way as to better inform teachers on either current thinking and research or best classroom practices. While our theme is nominally Korea-centric, we heartily encourage our colleagues from other nations to apply! We note that there are many ‘shared borders’ and global issues that are not unique to the Korean context, and so welcome the valuable perspectives that international contributors bring with them.

Regular Sessions

The Program Committee is accepting proposals for:

  1. Presentations (45 minutes, lecture-oriented) focused on best practices, and practical solutions.
  2. Workshops (45 minutes, hands-on) suitable for either early-career or established professionals.
  3. Research reports (20 minutes) focused on either original or replicated studies, or action research.

Only proposals that demonstrate an outstanding depth of understanding, providing either critical examination of the topic or the opportunity for substantial skill development on the part of attendees will be accepted.

  • Presenter’s name, affiliation, and current contact information
