2. Yongin Chapter First Vice-President

André Jacobs

Yongin Chapter's First Vice-President holds a diverse academic background in Psychology, English Literature, and Philosophy. His journey led him to Korea, where he has resided and taught for the past two decades, primarily within the hagwon industry. During this time, he dedicated three years to teaching at a Korean university and ventured into public school and business English instruction. His base for most of his Korean journey was in Gangneung on the East coast, where he ran a hagwon for a decade and played a role in establishing a volunteer organization.

Throughout his career, his primary focus has been fostering collaboration between Koreans and foreigners, a passion he carries into his role at KOTESOL. His relocation to Yongin in early 2022 coincided with his involvement in the organization. While serving within the Yongin KOTESOL chapter, he played a pivotal role in fostering a relationship between the Yongin Immigrant Support Center and the chapter. As a member of the executive committee, his mission is to actively recruit English hagwon teachers into KOTESOL, as he firmly believes they can greatly benefit from the training and support the organization provides. Additionally, he aspires to strengthen the ties between KOTESOL and Korean organizations for mutual benefit.

In 2023, he contributed significantly to the chapter's success by serving as the National Conference Chair, chapter secretary, and as the founder of the new Special Interest Group (SIG) "Young Learners & Teens." He continues his dedication to the growth and collaboration within KOTESOL, focusing on the positive impact he can make.
